REVIEW & SWATCHES: NYX Cosmetics The Go-To Palette in Wanderlust

I have been getting the monthly Bellaboxes in the mail and in April’s box we were able to pick a NYX palette of our choice. I received the NYX Cosmetics The Go-To Palette in Wanderlust. I haven’t seen a lot of these types of eye and cheek palettes in the drugstore…at least not ones that looked really good. But this one really caught my eye. Neutral, everyday shades? A highlighter, blush and bronzer included? Could this replace my Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette? I’ve tried and tested this palette so here is my review.

The Packaging

Fortunately my palette arrived in one piece. I know many other Bellabox subscribers had to get their palettes replaced as they shattered in the mail. So the packaging is a little flimsy and is prone is breaking apart if you’re not careful. If you plan on travelling with this palette be careful of how you pack it, make sure it’s well protected. This is why I wished all palettes just came in that cardboard/magnetic packaging like Colourpop palettes, The Balm palettes etc…it’s just so much lighter and won’t break! Other than that the packaging is pretty standard. The lid is clear so you can see what colours you’re getting. It’s really slim and compact which makes it easy to take with you on the go!

The Product

So this Go-To palette has 6 eyeshadows and 3 cheek products: highlighter, blush and bronzer. This is your one stop shop to a daily makeup look since it has everything you need to complete your look. Usually I’m not much of a fan of drugstore eyeshadows since they tend to be quite patchy, chalky and generally not worth your hard earned dollars. But I was pleasantly surprised! 5 of the eyeshadows are shimmery/metallic finishes so they are quite pigmented. There is 1 matte brown eyeshadow which is a tad chalky but it’s still useable. The eyeshadows also have a bit of fallout as well so that might be something you want to consider if fallout bothers you. The cheek products are great, the highlighter really good (much for reflective than anticipated). The blush is okay, I think it’s a little more peachy than I prefer but it still looks great on my fair skin. The bronzer is CRAZY pigmented! No joke, when I first used the bronzer, I ended up applying wayyy to much…looked like I had a skid mark on my face and I had to blend it out with some translucent powder. So be careful with the bronzer! Use a light hand.

The Performance

Everything actually applied better than I expected. With the eyeshadows you might need to pack it on a little more but I didn’t struggle too much to get the pigmented I needed. I think I like the cheek products the best in this whole palette. All the colours suit my skintone really well and gives me a really natural yet glowy looking complexion. It was just the blush that isn’t so pigmented so I really need to build it up in order for the colour to show up. But otherwise everything else is perfect!

Left: The before where I look pale, sick and have no eyebrows. Right: All glammed up thanks to the NYX Go-To Palette.

The Look

So I’ve been using this for a couple of weeks now and this is the look generally go with. I use the matte brown shade (first shade, bottom row) all over my lid,  the pearly pink shade (second shade, top row) over the corner and centre of my lid and then define my crease and outer corner with the shimmery brown (third shade, top row). If I want a more dramatic look then I’ll use the darkest shade (third shade, bottom row) in my crease. And for the cheeks, I use everything! I start with the bronzer and place this just under my cheek bones and jawline. Then I pop that blush on the centres of my cheeks. And to finish the look, I use the highlighter in the corner of my eyes, brow bone, cupid’s bow, and cheek bones.

I like side profiles LOL. Also I went out after taking the initial pictures and I got my fringe cut…so that’s how that came out of nowhere LOL.

And that’s my short and sweet review of the NYX Cosmetics Go-To Palette! I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for that all-in-one palette. Unfortunately they only come in two shades which seem to be geared towards fair skin tones, so if you are on the deeper side of the shade spectrum you’ll need to look into other alternative. Nevertheless I hope you found this review helpful! Let me know what palette you’ve been loving lately, I’d love to discover more palettes like this, they’re so convenient! You can purchase this palette from the NYX Professional Makeup website. And if you wanna discover more beauty products, look into Bellabox! With Bellabox you’ll receive new products to play with every month. Thanks for reading, I’ll see you all next week~! xx

  1. The go to palette has caught ny attention now since this one looks so neutral and easy to bring during travels. Am I right if I say that, the two shadow shades at the far left top and bottom, are the same as the bronzer and highlighter? Or is it just looks the same in photos but not irl? Always love your reviews by the way!

    1. I think those shades are not exactly the same as the highlighter and bronzer but they’re VERYYYY similar! Great observation!
And thank you so much!! I really appreciate the support 💕💕💕
