MECCALAND: Haul & Review Ft. Drunk Elephant, Grown Alchemist & NARS

Good evening beauty fam! Last Saturday I went to the first ever MECCALAND. A festival of the lasted makeup and skincare products for us #MECCABeautyJunkies to play around with. The festival featured several brands such as Too Faced, Smashbox, Mario Badescu, Urban Decay, M.A.C Cosmetics and many more! Buying a ticket in the festival would get you access to limited edition products, early access to new releases and MECCALAND exclusive products. There were also a ton of insta-worthy activations for you to take plenty of photos with your friends. Anyway I got a few products from the event (which is actually super fun and I’d definitely go again!) so here is a lil run down of the products I took home!

Drunk Elephant ‘The Littles’

This is a little sample set from Drunk Elephant which has all the products you need to customise your skincare regime. The set includes Beste No. 9 Jelly Cleanser,  C-Firma Day SerumT.L.C. Framboos Glycolic Night SerumB-Hydra Intensive Hydration GelVirgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, Lala Retro Whipped Cream and Shaba Complex Eye Serum. You get between 5ml to 30 ml of product (depending on what the product is. This set was about $130AUD (I lost the receipt so I can’t remember the price, I’m sorry!). This was the most expensive product I bought from MECCALAND but I wanted to try it because I think this is a really complete set to try and experiment with Drunk Elephant’s products and really see if it’s worth the splurge. I haven’t tried any of the products yet but I will when I travel to Thailand. This is going to be a great skincare travel kit, so I’ll keep you posted once I’ve tried it! The set will soon be available from the MECCA website.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray

I have been looking to get a setting spray but I’ve never really needed one. My skin isn’t too particularly oily and I find my makeup generally lasts long. But I’m going to be taking a trip to Thailand soon and knowing how hot and humid it’s going to be, I’m going to need something to make sure my makeup stays put! I decided to pick up the setting spray from Urban Decay. I always hear amazing reviews on it so I’m hoping this is going to make my makeup stick. I bought the smaller 30ml size for $23AUD .

NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment

I definitely wanted treat myself to a new lippie at MECCALAND. Originally I had my eyes on a YSL lipstick but instead I decided to go for the NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment in American Woman. I’ve tried it a few times now and I think this is my new favourite liquid lipstick. It’s insanely pigmented, lasted a really long time and it fades really gracefully. I always find that liquid lipsticks get really cakey really easily. They tend to bunch up and peel off or they just really dry up my lips. But this formula feels super light weight and doesn’t dry my lips out. I also love that after eating, I’m not just left with a lipstick ring around my lips. But it fades really well. And if I want to reapply, it builds up nicely. After 2 or 3 applications, it can feel heavy but I don’t think you will need to top up more than 2 times throughout the day. I love this stuff, just wished there were more shades to choose from.

Grown Alchemist Hand Cream and Hydra-Mist+ Set

I wasn’t planning on visiting Grown Alchemist but they caught my attention since I haven’t tried anything form the brand. After talking to the lovely brand representative, she showed me the new set which features the Grown Alchemist Hand Cream and the Grown Alchemist Hydra-Mist+. I believe these are new products from the brand and I cannot wait to try them out. I tried the mist at MECCALAND and it feels super nice on the skin. The set will retail for around $60. I think this will be a great little set to give as a gift or even a little pamper treat to yourself!

Too Faced Sweethearst Baked Luminous Glow Bronzer

Okay, so I didn’t get this at MECCALAND but I did visit a MECCA MAXIMA later in the day (just can’t get enough, you know?). I was running out of my favourite bronzer from the MECCA MAX Triple Threat Face Powder and I wanted to try something new but of the same shade. One of the store hosts recommended I try this one from Too Faced and so far I’m loving it! It’s a really smooth and buttery formula. It’s also perfect for my fair skin tone, not too shimmery either which is just how I like it.

Free goodies and overall thoughts on MECCALAND

The ticket for MECCALAND is $50AUD which gives you access to exclusive products and early access to latest releases. You also get to bring home a bunch of free samples like lip masks, cleansers, makeup remover and more. Given that this was the first time MECCA has executed this event, I think it went really well. However the ticket price I found was a bit pricey. There wasn’t as much to do as I thought. We’re allocated 3 hour sessions but my friends and I had explored everything well before the three hours was over. There was only 1 food outlet: a taco truck which a little disappointing, it would have been nice to have more options. The most disappointing part of the day was that my friends and I wanted to get a YSL lipstick and have them engraved. Unfortunately the engraving machine was broken so in the end we decided not to get the lipsticks. We were definitely feeling down about this since we paid enjoy this event but couldn’t even get our lipsticks engraved.

Anyway I hope you guys enjoyed my haul/review! I think there will be a MECCALAND next year so if you’re in Melbourne, definitely keep your eyes peeled for that! Hopefully it’ll be bigger and better. I know lots of people missed out on tickets. And hopefully they’ll bring it to other states too! Let me know in the comments what you think of these products. And if you went to MECCALAND let me know what you think in the comments! I’ll see you all next week~! xx

  1. I kept seeing this event from Aussie bloggers on my IG feed and it looked amazing!

It’s too bad it wasn’t really worth the price of the admission though. They should definitely have had more than one food truck (what?) – and maybe events like masterclasses and demonstrations and whatnot. Also a shame that the engraving machine at YSL broke! I’m glad you still managed to have a good time though!

  2. I’ve been living for seeing all the stuff from Meccaland I live in Adelaide so I didn’t get to go, I was totally stalking the Facebook Livestreams and Instagram to check out all the fun. I’m really looking forward to the Smashbox & Vlada collection particularly the highlighters. I would have been so disappointed if I had paid for a ticket and not gotten a custom item like the YSL Lipstick that sucks and I can’t believe they had one food option that’s kind of annoying. Hopefully, their events in the future will be much better, fingers crossed they take these types of events around the country.
