Merry Christmas Eve everyone!! I hope everyone is having a lovely Christmas and New Year break with friends, family and loved ones. I know you’re probably going to a few lunches and dinners and you’ll probably be taking heaps of snaps too! At the very last minute I’ve put together a simple makeup look that’ll be perfect for day or night, Christmas or New Years. Let’s get right into it!
I start with prepping my skin with the Soap & Glory primer. I really love this primer because a little bit of it keeps my makeup looking flawless and lasting all day long. I never have to worry about getting oily or my makeup fading off throughout the day. For foundation I used the Fenty Beauty Foundation. It’s been my go-to foundation ever since I got it because I love how lightweight it feels but also how full coverage it looks. If I need more coverage I just go in with an extra layer in places where I need it such as my under eye area. I set everything with my favourite Laura Mercier Translucent powder. It’s the most natural looking powder you could ever ask for, highly recommend. Then I just fill in my eyebrows with the Etude House drawing eyebrow pencil. I follow the natural shape of my brows but extending it at the tail of the brow.
To prime I use the Urban Decay Primer Potion in the anti-aging variant (gotta prevent aging when you can!). I apply this on the top and bottom of the eyelids. For this look I used the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette. I started with the shade “Chaser” as a base for the eyeshadows. Then I went in with “Sauced” and blended this all over the lid. Using my finger, I applied “Lumbre” on to the centre of the lid. I used my finger because I I was able to achieve more of that metallic quality that I was looking for. To add some depth and create a slight smokey eye, I mixed “En Fuego” and “Ashes”. I used a tapered brush to focus this on the outer v and bringing it down to the outer half of the lower lash line. To top it all off I used my new Stila Magnificent Metals Liquid Eyeshadow in “Rose Gold Retro” to give the eyes a festive, glitter vibe. I finished the eyes with a classic cat-eye liner and mascaras (used two because my lack of lashes need help).
I tend to keep my cheeks very simple. Using the Mecca Max Triple Threat Face Powder, I used the bronzer shade in the hollows of my checks for a bronze and slightly contoured complexion. From the same palette, I applied the blush shade on the apples of my cheeks. For highlight I decided to use my BYS Highlighting Trio. This has the best budget highlighter I’ve ever tried. It delivers a blinding highlight for a tiny price. I mixed the two highlight shades and applied this in the inner corners of my eyes, brow bone, nose bridge, Cupid’s bow, chin and a little on the forehead. Highlight isn’t for everyone but I personally find that when I put a little bit of it everywhere, I end up with a super glowy face and I love it!
I wanted to make this look versatile for any festive occasion you might have coming up. For the first look, I paired the makeup with a neutral lip. Colourpop’s Lippie Stix in “Brink’ is my perfect MLBB which is perfect for when you need to go to a family lunch/dinner and you wanna keep it simple, dressed down and casual. The second look is more for the Christmas party with friends and family. This is for the gal that lovesssss Christmas! I wore a bright red lip, this is MAC’s Matte Lipstick in LeeHi (limited edition) and paired this with a classic red dress. The last look is what I would consider to be the New Years Party look. I went with a darker red lip (MAC’s Matte Lipstick in Diva) that would go perfectly with a little black dress.
And that’s all the looks! I hope I was able to get this up just in time so hopefully you’ll get a little bit of makeup and fashion inspo for your next festive event.
