Good evening wonderful beauty fam!! I hope you have all been good and healthy and happy! I realise I have neglected my blog (again…I’m sorry!) for the past few weeks but I’m here to give you this seasons edit of my favourite products from spring!
The last few months I had been experiencing some strange, weird, rash/eczema like condition on my arms. They’ve been really incredibly red and irritated. And I felt like my skin was burning whenever I finished taking a shower. I tried a bunch of lotions and cream that I had but nothing worked. I even used an ointment that was recommended by my dad’s dermatologist and it didn’t work. But then on a whim I tried my sister’s QV Cream and my rash cleared up over night! OVER NIGHT!!!!! That of course won me over and I had to buy my own bottle. I now use this every time I finish taking a shower and it leaves me skin feeling really smooth and soft.
Secret Key Starting Treatment Essence – Rose Edition
I bought this about 2 – 3 months ago after watching one of Gothamista’s videos on budget friendly skincare products. And in that video she talked about this treat essence from Secret Key. It’s similar to the Missha one that was using, only it was cheaper. The Secret Key essence is starting at around $40AUD while Missha’s essence is priced at around $50AUD depending on where you purchase from. The Secret Key essence is not only cheaper but it is just as effective, if not more. For so long I have been loyal to my Missha First Treatment Essence but now that I’ve tried this one, I don’t think I can go back. I was impressed at how well it absorbed into my skin and helped soften the texture as well. It’s hard to explain but let’s just say it’s definitely am upgrade from Missha’s essence.
Soap & Glory’s One Heck of a Blot Primer
This primer was one my new purchases from my America trip earlier this year. I was lining up to make my purchases when I remembered I forgot to have a look at the Soap & Glory range. I had a quick look and I was about to grab the One Heck of a Blot powder…but opted for the primer instead. Don’t ask why…I didn’t really think about it okay! But I’m so glad I bought it and tried it because it’s become my favourite primer this past season. I think it’s a better alternative to the Make Up For Ever Mattifying Primer. This one has a similar texture to the Soap & Glory one but S&P’s is way more blendable and doesn’t feel drying. I’ve been using this to prep my skin before the rest of my makeup and I can honestly say that my makeup, really has lasted all day long.
Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
The hype around the launch of Fenty Beauty was insane. I would definitely consider this to be the biggest launch in a while and I can’t deny that it was impressive. I picked up a few things from Fenty Beauty (blog post on that here) but the one product I keep coming back to is the foundation. I have been enjoying my Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation and the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation but this one has truly impressed me. It is a very thin foundation, it’s very light weight and you really can’t tell it’s on your skin. But it gives the most the amazing, yet natural looking coverage. Al of my acne scarring and discolouration is camouflaged thanks to this foundation. I’m about half way through the bottle and once I’m finished, I will definitely be re-purchasing.
Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder
This was another purchase from America earlier this year. I was looking to get a new powder because I found that the ones I had been using were either too cakey or too drying. I wanted to try something different, something that would set my makeup but didn’t look like I had powder on. I’ve always heard wonderful things about the Laura Mercier powder but I never got around to trying it. So I bit the bullet and bought it. And omg I love it!!! It is definitely my new favourite setting powder. I only need a little to set my entire face but it still leaves a lit from within kind of glow. Also it comes in a huge tub, this thing is going to last me forever!
Etude House Drawing Eye Brow Pencil
This was the very first pencil I used when I first wore makeup. I used it during high school and I remember I liked it but at the time my skin was very oily, which meant that by the end of the day the ends of my eyebrows had disappeared. But I decided to give it another go a few months ago, bought a new pencil. And oh my, I love it. Before this I was using my Colourpop eyebrow pomade which I love because it’s so pigmented and long lasting. But now that I’ve tried the pencil again, it is all I’ve been using! It might be because of the foundation and of the powder but it works really really well. It’s pigmented, it’s natural looking but it lasts throughout the day. And honestly I’ve gotten a few compliments from strangers about my eyebrows so that’s gotta count for something!
Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look in a Palette
Okay, so I have done a full blown review on this which you can read here. But I wanted to include it in this seasons edit because I’ve have been using this on the daily lately. Sometimes I want to put a little more effort into looking put together and presentable. And it’s not every morning that I have the luxury to sit down and pick and choose which products I’d like to use that morning. So instead I’ve just been using one palette that has all the products I need. It’s got three eyeshadows for a simple daytime look, bronzer, blush and highlight to give a naturally glowing complexion. This has made my mornings fuss free and so easy but I still walk out the door feeling like a 10!
And that’s the end of my Spring Edit! I highly rate all of these products so make sure to check them out for yourself. Let me know what products you’ve been enjoying lately and I’ll be sure to check them out! I hope you guys found this post helpful and I’ll see ya next week for my Gigi Hadid x Maybelline review! xx
