This is for all my gurls who don’t want to spend their precious dollars at Sephora/Mecca because it’s too out of their budget. This is for the gurl who doesn’t know much about makeup and want to start trying without using high end products. This is for the broke uni student. I GOT YOUR BACK! Here is my rundown of my favourite products under $10AUD. They’re not in any particular order but I do think these are all really good quality products that are worth every cent!
Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish SPF 50 PA+++
I never start my day without some sunscreen on the face. It is so important you wear sunscreen everyday if you want to avoid premature ageing and sun damage. Most sunscreens in the western market can feel quite sticky and hard to spread because they can be super thick. But I came across this Etude House sunscreen while I was making an order for a few korean products and I’m so glad I purchased it. It’s a physical sunscreen that’s not sticky, blends into the skin like nothing and wears so well under makeup! I’m on my third bottle now and I will continue to repurchase because it’s the best sunscreen ever! It might not seem very hydrating so make sure you use a moisturiser underneath! $9.14 from Cosmetic Love.
The Saem Cover Perfection Tip Concealer
Okay so this product isn’t going to be available for everyone because it only comes in three shades. I know and I’m sorry!! But if you match one of the three shades, then you’ll love this! Considering it’s under $5AUD this stuff is an absolute steal! The coverage is amazing, better than the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer, better than Tarte’s Shape Tape…THERE I SAID IT! I don’t really like the Tape Shape because you have to work quickly with it, it dries down really fast. But The Saem’s concealer gives you a little more time to blend into the skin…and it looks like it! It’s very natural looking despite the full coverage. I’ve used it all over my face before and I love this stuff! $3.86AUD from Cosmetic Love.
Essence All About Matt! Fixing Compact Powder
This is amazing for your oily skin gurls. For the longest time I kept forking out what seemed like a fortune for the M.A.C Blot Powder which I loved!! But one day at Priceline, I saw this, tried it and I haven’t gone back. It’s an oily absorbing machine! It sets my makeup really well, it doesn’t break me out, it feels incredibly light on the skin and doesn’t emphasise my pores (huge problem for me when I use powder foundation). This won’t give you extra coverage but it will lock everything in place to make sure your makeup is on fleek all dayy longggg!!!! $6.15AUD from Priceline.
BYS Highlighting/Contour Trio
If you need a simple highlighting or contouring palette for a good price, BYS Cosmetics is your new best friend! The pigmentation and texture of these are comparable higher end products. The highlighters are blinding enough and the contour trio is so perfect to achieve that chiselled cheekbone look. Sure, the packaging might not seem all that fancy…it might even be a little flimsy, but the quality wins over packaging completely! Check out BYS, you won’t be disappointed! BYS Highlighter Trio ($7.95AUD) and Contour Trio ($8.95AUD) from BYS.COM.AU (but also available from Kmart for the same price).
Colourpop Super Shock Blushes
I recently bought one of these in the shade Never Been Kissed and I was so impressed with how these applied and stayed on my face! A lot of blushes can feel quite powdery and chalky and sometimes don’t show up properly. But this stuff…OMG. It’s a but of a weird texture, it’s in between a cream and powder texture but I love the Super Shock formula because it’s extra pigmented and long wearing! I like to use a dense brush to pat it onto the apples of my cheeks and it gives me such a pretty flush! $8USD/$10.42AUD from Colourpop.
Etude House Drawing Eye Brow Pencil
This is perfect for those natural eyebrow days. It has one of those wedge shape pencils, kind of like the Hourglass eyebrow pencil, but this is so much cheaper! It might feel like a hard pencil that doesn’t have much colour pay off but after a few strokes you’ll start to see your brows coming to life! The wedge shape allows you to fill in more with less strokes and it helps with precision. The wedge shape is perfect for when you want to fill in the front of the brow, just have the wedge vertically upright and the front of the brows are practically done. There’s also a spoolie on the end so it’s a perfect all in one product! $2.34AUD from Cosmetic Love.
Colouorpop Precision Brow Colour
Now if the eyebrow pencil is not your thing and you want those dramatic, Instagram eyebrows then say “hello” to Colourpop’s take on the eyebrow pomade. It’s a gel-like product that’s going to give you those sharp looking eyebrows. You need to get a separate angled brush to apply the product because can’t use your fingers or anything okay? Now I know pomades/eyebrow gels can be difficult to use so you need to start off with a light hand and eventually you’ll learn to work quicker with this stuff. And this stuff does not budge! It lasts all day long and won’t fade throughout the day. Make sure you have a spoolie at hand to blend it out because this stuff can give you sharpie-looking eyebrows real quick. $6USD/$7.82AUD from Colourpop.
Essence Make Me Brow Eyebrow Gel
I personally prefer eyebrow gels that actually set my brow like hair gel and they just stay where I want them too. This Essence gel isn’t like that. To the touch, your brows are going to feel quite soft and not crunchy feeling like hair spray (I like the hair spray feel but that’s just me). So this eyebrow gel is definitely more natural looking and feeling. If you already have good eyebrows that just need a little bit of grooming and a tiny bit of filling in, the essence gel is it! Not only will it maintain the shape of your eyebrows but there’s also a tint to it, so it’s going to fill in your brows in the most natural way. $5.10AUD from Priceline.
W7 Cosmetics Naughty Nines Palettes
Drugstore eyeshadows can be a hit or miss and more often than not, they’re a miss. But one time I found some reviews on the W7 Naughty Nines palettes and how they’re a good dupe for the M.A.C palettes. I haven’t tried M.A.C eyeshadows but I needed to see what the fuss was about. I found them at my local chemist and decided to bite the bullet and bought two. They’re not as buttery as some other high end eyeshadows that I love but for the price, these are very decent. You get nine eyeshadows in the palette with a mixture of matte and satin finishes. If you’re new to eyeshadow and want to practice then I these are great to start off with! $4.99 from Chemist Warehouse.
Colourpop Lippie Stix
Okay last favourite product are the Colourpop Lippie Stix! These are my favourite lipsticks of 2017. I have purchased so many of these and I actually just bought three more (someone ban me from the Colourpop website please). They are just so comfortable on the lips, not drying like the Ultra Satin Lips. They’re super pigmented and most importantly they’re quite long wearing. You still need to apply after eating but for the most part, they stay on your lips. They come in a bunch of different shades but I mainly have reds and nude colours. And the packaging is really simple and minimal which I think is a nice touch. Also they smell a bit like chocolate! $5USD/$6.50AUD from Colourpop.
And that’s everything!! If you got through the whole blog post, let me know in the comments so I can give you some love! I hope you guys found this post helpful with finding some wallet friendly products. Let me know if you want to see a part two of this because I can definitely put that together for you. I’ll see you all next week! xx
