Good evening beauty fam~! I visited Seattle last month to see some relative and while I was there I decided to pick up a couple of make-up products! If you live in Australia you will know that make-up here is super expensive compared to overseas. Even with the exchange rate and taxes, the prices are very over-inflated. So I decided to treat myself and bought A LOT of make-up. Here is my haul!
The one I really wanted to try and get my hands on was the NYX Angel Veil Primer. I heard it’s a good dupe for the famous Hourglass primer but that thing costs a liver so I wanted to see if this was a good alternative. I’ve been using it heaps since I bought and I really like it. It’s really great if you have drier skin.. If you have oily skin, you might need something more mattifying, The Soap and Glory one caught my attention while I was about to leave Ulta. I had never tried anything from the brand before so I think this would be good to start with. It’s very similar to MakeUp Forever’s Mattifying primer so I think this might be a good dupe (will keep you updated)! And I repurchased the Neutrogena primer since I’m pretty much out of the first bottle I bought. It’s an interesting primer, it’s a grainy texture to it, but somehow it makes me make-up last all day long!
I got a couple of different foundations. The Estee Lauder Double Wear I already had but I wanted to get a lighter shade since the one I had was a tad too dark for me. But I love it, it’s my go to foundation for when I need that all day wear and full coverage. The L’Oreal Pro – Glow foundation was something I had to bring home, we don’t have this product in Australia. I’ve used it a few times and I love it! I feels really natural on the skin and isn’t drying at all. It’s a great everyday foundation and very similar to the Too Faced Born This Way foundation. I picked up the Too Faced one in Australia but I wanted to include it in the haul. I’ve also been really loving the Too Faced foundation, it’s thicker than the L’Oreal one but feels just as light weight and natural. Also from Soap Glory I bought the One Heck of a Blot Foundation. I haven’t tried but from the swatches, it’s definitely made for oily skin. It reminds me of the Hourglass Immaculate foundation but not as thick. For concealer I purchased Tarte’s Tape Shape concealer since everyone was raving about it. I didn’t really get on with it though, it’s drying and sets really fast so you have to blend really quickly. As for powder, I finally decided to get the beloved Laura Mercier Translucent Powder. I’ve been using this everyday since I got it and it’s THE BEST POWDER I’VE EVER TRIED!! So if you get anything from the products I mention, I urge you to try the powder. It’s amazing.
I have been waiting to get the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette since it was first released. I haven’t tried any of the other Naked palettes before but this one really caught my attention. I really like the colour scheme and felt it was well suited to me. So I bought it at Sephora in Seattle and it’s been my favourite palette ever since. The quality is amazing and it’s really great for when you want to create a smokey fall look. To go with the palette I also bought the Urban Decay Primer Potion in the anti-ageing formula. I actually like this way better than the Too Faced Shadow insurance, it’s less runny and doesn’t smear the foundation that’s underneath. From the drugstore I bought two mascaras. The Maybelline Push-Up Angel Mascara is awesome! I got the waterproof formula and the main reason I love it so much is for the brush. It’s so fine and small, it makes it easy to get into my tiny lashes without getting it all over my eyelids. I was also really interested in the L’Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara which I am also really loving, it’s my everyday mascara now.
Personally I feel like I did really good with lippies, I didn’t buy too much so I was quite proud of myself. The first lippie I bought the M.A.C Matte Lipstick in LeeHi. I had ordered this earlier, my cousin had it waiting for me when I arrived in Seattle. I have yet to use it but it such a pretty red colour, it’s super pigmented and gives that editorial matte look. Next I got two Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks: K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Stoned Rose and Matte Revolution Lipstick in Walk of Shame. I really love both lippies, one of more of a natural everyday lippie, while the other is matte and perfect to pair with a dramatic eye look. I also had my eye on the Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip product. I had seen it on instagram and it looked like such a pretty, tinted and natural lip colour that I picked up two shades: Cranberry and Ruby. Lastly I received an Estee Lauder Lipstick in Dramatic Nude as a perk for when I bought the foundation.
AND THAT’S EVERYTHING! This is a haul so I didn’t go into too much detail on the products…or else this blog post would be ridiculously long! I hope you guys found this post helpful and maybe you’ve discovered a product that you might like! Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any of these products or if you think there’s something else I should have bought LET ME KNOW! I’ll see you all next week~! xx
