Here it is, the very highly requested review of Fenty Beauty by Rihanna. The hype around this launch has been no joke. All you beauty junkies will understand how highly anticipated this line was and now it’s in our hands to test and try the products for ourselves. I didn’t think I was going to get anything from the range but of course, I walked past Sephora and the rest is history. I picked up three products from the range, here are my thoughts.
Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation
Since this has been such a huge launch, there were so many people around and the sales assistants were so busy that I was able to get properly shade-matched. But luckily for me I happened to pick the perfect shade for me. There’s 40 shades in the range so there’s something for even the lightest and darkest of skin tones. I got the shade 150 Light Neutral which is a perfect match for me. I have heard from other people that it can darken on the skin after it sets. I do notice it does darken a little but it’s best to maybe get a few samples first to see which shade is the most suitable. It feels so incredibly light weight on the skin, like you don’t have foundation on (think the opposite of Estee Lauder’s Double wear which can feel heavy). But considering how light it feels, the coverage is pretty phenomenal. It provides medium to full coverage which can be built up seamlessly.
The only issue is that it’s not suitable for ALL skin types. If you have normal/combination/oily skin then this is going to work for you. Otherwise if you have dry skin, you might not get on with it. I’ve seen pictures of girls wearing this foundation and have complained that it emphasises their dry patches. But otherwise if you have fairly normal to combination skin. you probably won’t even need to set with a powder since this foundation dries down completely matte. For you oily skin girlies, you might want to set with a light layer of powder. I definitely rate this foundation, it’s really nice for any occasion, there’s no SPF (so no flashback) and it feels so light on the skin which I love!
Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo
I don’t think I can pick favourites from the products I’ve tried because I’ve loved them all! But the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo’s really caught my attention. Each duo comes with two highlighters: a subtle highlighter that’s great for everyday and one that’s super shimmery and reflective that’ll give you that bombshell glow. Personally I like to use both on the face for that extra oomph of gleam and glow. I will say, their not as glowly as my beloved Mary-Lou Manizer but I thin using a fan brush doesn’t help. For these I think using a more denser brush will do the trick!I bought them in three different shades: Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal, Girl Next Door/Chic Freak and Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule.
Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal and Girl Next Door/Chic Freak are beautiful, pearlescent highlighters that look amazing on the cheek bones, nose bridge, cupid’s bow and inner corners. Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule on the other hand is a bit too dark for me to use as a normal highlight, so I use this as a blush instead. I think it gives a really pretty, iridescent flush to the cheeks that looks really natural and glowly. It’s really pigmented so you can definitely build it up if you want the highlighter to really shine.
Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer
This collection is mainly about healthy skin and that glowly complexion. So this is the only lip product in the line at the moment and it’s suppose to be a universal lip gloss that would look good on everyone. It’s a neutral, rosy shade that isn’t too pigmented so it’s definitely going to suit everyone. It’s gives you more of a sheen as opposed to colour as the name suggests which suits the concept of this line really well. Like the foundation, this lip gloss is made to be worn by anyone and everyone. I think this is an awesome product. First off it smells SO GOOD! I imagine it’s how Rihanna smells like in person. It doesn’t feel too thick or sticky on the lips and it layers really well over the top of your everyday lip colour.
Also can we have a moment to appreciate the PACKAGING?! Everything is in the hexagonal shape which I think looks super cool and trendy…geometric shapes have been so “in” these days! The foundation is in a frosted glass bottle, the highlighters are in an awesome compact and that has purple reflective qualities! And the lip balm is also in that hexagon prism shape that really stands out from that crowd. Packaging really does get an A+ in my books. And you know what, the products I’ve tried so far get an A+ too. I don’t really have any major complaints about Fenty Beauty. I think everyone needs to give this line a go because there’s a lot of good things about it (they’re also vegan and cruelty free!).
