Hi you guys~! I hope you guys have been well and I hope you enjoyed that two-part special I did for AMICO. For today’s post I have my second edition to my seasonal edits that I do at the end of every season. In Australia’s case it’s the end of Autumn so allow me to share some of the products I’ve been reaching for during this Autumn!
Natio Daily Defence Moisturisng Lotion SPF 50: This is the one product I always have to have in my routine, I can’t live without it! During the warmer weather I’ve been using my Missha Sun Milk Essence which has a great thin and light formula but it’s not hydrating enough for the winter. Natio’s face sunscreen is great for all the seasons and it’s been doing so well in keeping my face protected and hydrated during these colder days. I mentioned this in my latest empties post so you can check out that post for some more details.
Rimmel Stay Matte Primer: I remember buying this on a whim last year, hoping to find a good quality drug store primer that could keep me oil-free throughout the day. I was pleasantly surprised that by the day I had very minimal oil on my face. It does has a slight silicone-y feel to it but not as much as those clear primer gels which I feel don’t help me with oil control at all. It comes in this white lotion which blends really easily. What I like to do put to dispense some of the primer to the back of my hand, then mix in my day-time lotion together, allowing me to moisturise and prime in one step. I give it about five minutes to settle and absorb before I apply my concealer and foundation. I feel that giving it a little bit of time to set really helps your base make-up to adhere and last all day. Don’t use too much though, using too much is going to cause that strong silicone feeling that might make you feel oily. It also hasn’t caused any acne so…two thumbs up for me!
Etude House Precious Mineral BB Cream Cotton Fit: I did write an entire review on this so I won’t get into too much detail but I’ve been reaching for this BB cream a lot lately. It lasts a full uni/working day and my face doesn’t feel like dry or flaky. And combining it with with a good moisturiser and primer is just pure heaven. If you’ve been looking into getting a Korean BB cream then you might want to give this one a go. Again I’ll leave you link here so you can read all about it.
Maybelline Hyper Sharp Wing Liner: This has been my go-to eyeliner lately. If you read my Summer Edit and On-The-Go Essentials post, you would remember me declaring my love for the Physician’s Formula Eyeliner. However, it can be a little costly considering it’s about $22 from Priceline. But during the 40% sale at Priceline a few months ago, I decided to pick up the Maybelline eyeliner and I’ve fallen in love with it. It stays on all day, it’s super black, it doesn’t smudge and it’s cheap. It hasn’t dried out on me just yet which is good, it’s lasted more than 2 weeks. Which I hear can be a bit of a surprise since some people find that these felt-tip liners dry out easily. Also if you’re new at liquid liners then this might be difficult to use. I did find the formula to be more wet than Physician’s Formula liner so that might be something you want to think about.
L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara (Waterproof): I also picked this up during the 40% sale in the hope to finding an alternative to my holy grail Illegal Length mascara. I actually really like how small and thin the wand is. I have super short and small lashes so I always struggle to find a wand small enough that won’t smudge all over my eyelids. The formula itself is great, it holds my curl all day and it doesn’t smudge! A lot of people always find that waterproof mascara is difficult to remove…I don’t seem to have that struggle. I use a cleansing oil to take off all my make-up at the end of the day and it makes taking of waterproof eye make-up a piece of cake. Honestly though, I don’t think I will repurchase this again. Other than the wand, it’s not significantly different to the Illegal Length mascara which is a lot more affordable than L’Oreal so I might pick it up during sales but it’s not a huge game changer.
Lip Glosses: As you can see…I didn’t really specify which lip gloss I’ve been reaching for. But that’s because I love all the lip glosses that are currently in my collection. I don’t have a huge collection, most of them are they pinky-nude type of colour and then a have a few bolder colours to layer over my more dramatic lipsticks. Lately I’ve just been loving to layer a lip gloss over my regular lipstick. It makes my lips look plump and voluptuous without the need of a lip pencil. And since it’s getting colder I feel like a good gloss helps to keep my lips from getting chapped…plus it makes my lip colour last longer too! I recommend any of my lip glosses to anyone since they’re all really nice. The Estee Lauder (my first high end lip product!) and L’Oreal ones have more of a thicker consistency. Covergirl’s glosses I think are the sweet spot, they’re not too sticky or too thin but have less pigmentation. As for the Natio glosses, they’re hydrating but they have thinnest consistency among the ones I have. But I love them all, if you’re not a lip gloss person then maybe try ones with a thinner and less sticky formula…layer it over your favourite lipstick and you will love it I promise.
And that’s it for my Autumn Edit! This post is a little bit long so I do apologise for that, if you did read this whole post then I love you. Let know in the comments what products you have been reaching for lately, I’m always open to recommendations! I have my last few assessments and exams coming up so I apologise if I’m a little absent from my social medias. I’ll see you all next week! xx
